Sandvik Coromant hosts Technology Day at new training facility in Cikarang

A comprehensive range of machining solutions were presented at Sandvik Coromant Indonesia’s Technology Day, hosted at its new training facility in Cikarang, West Java. On April 15-16, 2026, visitors were invited to explore the new facility while engaging in a wide variety of metal cutting and manufacturing topics. Attendees also had the opportunity to learn more about the company’s newest tooling solutions including, CoroTurn® PI, CoroMill® MR20 and CoroDrill® DE10.

The new Indonesian facility, which opened in March 2026, hosted 69 customers across the two-day event, including 30 visitors from PT Astra Honda Motor. The event aimed to deliver valuable insights into a variety of machining solutions, encouraging collaboration across industries through technical presentations and informal discussion groups.

One key component of the event was the presentation of advanced tooling solutions designed to optimise efficiency and precision across a range of machining applications.

CoroDrill® DE10, an exchangeable-tip drill, allows for high-volume hole making across all industries. Combining optimised chip flute geometry with seamless plug-and-play functionality, the tool delivers uncompromised performance for secure and robust drilling.

CoroMill® MR20 is optimised for predictable, high-performance cutting across diverse machining applications. The advanced indexable milling concept ensures secure machining through its robust interface, which reduces insert micro-movements. Sustainability is also increased via the cutter’s under-coolant system, which works to extend tool life.

A new family of internal turning tools, CoroTurn® PI, was introduced in March 2026 and presented to customers during the event. The tool increases efficiency by delivering high productivity with the PrimeTurning™ methodology, while cost-efficiency is enhanced through the incorporation of eight cutting edges as well as a high-precision chip breaker.

In addition, the event highlighted digital and machine integration solutions, including MACU next-generation DTH and rotating adaptors, CoroTurn® Plus, CoroPlus® Tool Library integrations and advanced capabilities for digital machining.

“The Technology Day provided excellent feedback on our new training facility,” said Atsushi Takei, Sales Cluster Manager for Southeast Asia and Oceania. “Participants clearly demonstrated strong engagement throughout the presentations, contributing their own insights during the cross-industry exchanges that followed.”

Following April’s Technology Day, Sandvik Coromant Indonesia is inviting customers and distribution partners to its exclusive metal cutting training, Mastering the Fundamentals of Metal Cutting, at its facility in Cikarang in late June. The programme aims to strengthen machining competence as well as knowledge of tool selection optimisation and cutting strategies through real-time interaction with Sandvik Coromant’s yellow coat experts.
