Techman Robot, a global leader in collaborative robots, has announced the successful deployment of its AI collaborative robots (cobots) at the German automotive computer and electronics manufacturing facility of its parent company, Quanta Computer (TWSE: 2382.TW), a premier global design and manufacturing powerhouse for computing technology. By integrating group resources and collaborating closely, the two companies have fully upgraded and intelligentized the production lines for highly complex automotive Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), establishing a new benchmark for high-end electric and autonomous vehicle manufacturing.
Targeting High-End Autonomous Driving: Full Deployment of AI Automated Inspection Systems
The Automotive Electronic Control Units (ECUs) required for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are highly integrated products with massive computing power. A single motherboard can contain nearly 5,000 components, making the high-density automotive-grade circuit design and production process exceptionally complex. Techman Robot’s AI cobots have been successfully integrated into Quanta’s German automotive production line, effectively breaking through manufacturing bottlenecks and enhancing overall production efficiency.
To meet diverse automaker specifications and system integration demands, the group also offers a version powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon Ride Flex (SA8775P). This platform supports integrated ADAS and In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) applications, utilizing a single SoC to dynamically allocate computing power and achieve an optimal balance between driving assistance and cabin experience, thereby demonstrating high flexibility and platform advantages. In the production of these high-performance, high-density automotive circuit boards—which require real-time processing of massive amounts of data—ensuring factory-gate quality is the top priority. Consequently, the comprehensive introduction of AI automated inspection became the key catalyst for deepening the collaboration between both parties.
Deploying Techman AI Cobots to Achieve 360-Degree Inspection on Production Lines
To meet the highest manufacturing standards for top-tier automotive ECUs, Quanta’s automotive production line in Germany has fully implemented Techman Robot’s AI cobot solutions. This solution deeply integrates precision motion control with powerful AI vision technology, delivering exceptional comprehensive AOI capabilities to ensure the factory-gate quality of high-performance, high-specification automotive circuit boards. Key features of the Techman cobots include:
■Production Traceability: Automatically reads and links production information through precise scanning of QR codes and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) of PCBA labels to enable complete production tracking.
■Assembly Verification: Performs visual feature positioning on workpieces and executes precise error detection and installation confirmation for critical components, including connectors, screw-fastening status, and water-cooling pipe rubber sleeves.
■Real-Time Anomaly & Surface Defect Detection: Instantly identifies defects such as foreign objects or missing components on the line, and conducts multi-point surface defect inspections to ensure the overall integrity of the product.
