
Ceratizit’s Visual Twin technology enables automotive manufacturers to assess machining processes and tooling strategies in a realistic virtual environment before actual production begins.
Developed in collaboration with ModuleWorks GmbH, Visual Twin goes beyond a conventional CAD model or machine simulation. The software creates an immersive, photorealistic representation of machining operations, complete with realistic chip formation and machine sounds. Users can examine individual cutting tools or simulate complete manufacturing applications.
For automotive component production, the technology can demonstrate operations such as trochoidal milling and drilling using Ceratizit’s Silverline, Monstermill ISO-S, WTX Uni, WTX Quattro, HFC and HFCD tooling solutions.
By testing machining strategies virtually, manufacturers can identify potential problems before they reach the shop floor. This can help reduce scrap, prevent unnecessary tool changes, conserve valuable materials and maximize machine utilization—important advantages for automotive suppliers facing pressure to improve productivity, quality and sustainability.
Visual Twin is supported by smart tooling and automated, data-driven processes. It runs in real time as a standalone software application on a separate PC and is compatible with consumer-grade hardware, making advanced machining simulation more accessible to manufacturers.
