This year, 17 exhibitors and 21 entries advanced to the final round, covering plastics and rubber materials, products, and machinery and equipment.

The 2026 Taipei International Plastics & Rubber Industry Show (TaipeiPLAS 2026), jointly organized by the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI) and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), is being held from September 15 to 19 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 1. As one of the show’s key events, the TaipeiPLAS Award completed its on-site final judging on September 16, followed by an award ceremony that evening to recognize outstanding achievements by exhibiting companies in technological innovation, smart applications, energy efficiency and carbon reduction, and product development.

Driving Innovation and R&D to Accelerate Industry Transformation

The TaipeiPLAS Award aims to encourage innovation and R&D across the industry while enhancing product added value. This year, 17 exhibitors and 21 entries advanced to the final round, covering plastics and rubber materials, products, and machinery and equipment. The shortlisted entries highlight the growing integration of smart technologies, energy efficiency, and circular low-carbon solutions—from AI and data integration to electrification, precision control, and the adoption of recycled materials in products and manufacturing processes—reflecting the continued transformation of Taiwan’s plastics and rubber industry toward smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable solutions.

The final judging was conducted on-site on September 16, with the award ceremony held that evening, bringing together representatives from the organizers and industry, the judging panel, and participating companies to witness the results of this year’s competition. The judges visited exhibitors’ booths and conducted comprehensive evaluations through product demonstrations, technical presentations, and on-site Q&A. Entries were assessed based on technological innovation, product design, practicality, energy efficiency and carbon reduction, and smart applications, allowing the judges to gain a deeper understanding of each entry’s technical features and market applications.

Wei Kun-Chih, Vice Chairman of the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry, said that the TaipeiPLAS Award provides an important platform for companies to showcase their R&D achievements. In response to global trends toward low-carbon, high-efficiency, and smart manufacturing, Taiwanese companies are increasingly integrating energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and smart technologies into product development, demonstrating the technological capabilities of Taiwan’s manufacturing sector.

Wang Chun-Hsien, Chairman of TAMI’s Plastics & Rubber Machinery Committee, noted that this year’s entries span materials, products, and machinery and equipment, demonstrating the broad innovation capabilities of the plastics and rubber industry. In response to changes in international markets and growing demand for higher-value products, Taiwanese companies continue to leverage their strengths in flexibility and customized development, enhancing their competitiveness through technological advancement.

Huang Sheng-Chieh, Professor at National Cheng Kung University and Chief Judge of the judging panel, said that the evaluation focused not only on technological innovation, but also on product design, user-friendly operation, energy efficiency and carbon reduction, and smart system integration. Through on-site demonstrations and exchanges, the entries demonstrated the continued commitment of Taiwan’s plastics and rubber industry to innovation and R&D.
