Achieving long-term corrosion protection was tackled by Mr. Ade Yusra, Technical Marketing Engineer of PT Nuscaco Anti Korosi Indonesia (NAKI), who cited that the lack or insufficient information on coating selection process leads to why coating failures occur. As he stressed, coating selection is an engineering process and not a product selection exercise. Mr. Yusra enumerated the factors that should be considered in the selection of coating, such as operation condition, service environment, chemical exposure, application constraints, surface preparation and expected service life. He also mentioned some case studies and five practical lessons to guide professionals.
