Vision Engineering, a British manufacturer of optical and digital inspection systems, has introduced its EVO Cam AURA digital microscope platform in Malaysia, targeting the growing inspection requirements of the country’s semiconductor, electronics, medical device and precision engineering industries.
Launched on 29 October 2026, EVO Cam AURA succeeds the EVO Cam II and incorporates 4K imaging technology, integrated measurement tools and digital inspection capabilities designed to support quality control in advanced manufacturing environments.
The introduction comes as Malaysia continues to expand its electrical and electronics (E&E) industry under the New Industrial Master Plan 2030. Semiconductor packaging, printed circuit board (PCB) assembly and sensor manufacturing operations, particularly in Penang and Kulim, are placing greater emphasis on defect detection, dimensional accuracy and production efficiency.
As electronic components become smaller and manufacturing tolerances tighten, inspection systems must provide detailed imaging while supporting consistent performance during extended operating periods. EVO Cam AURA addresses these requirements through high-resolution digital imaging and a screen-based viewing system that reduces the need for operators to use conventional microscope eyepieces.
The system's 4K imaging capabilities enable closer examination of fine surface defects, including hairline cracks, contamination and variations in component geometry. Its ergonomic design also helps reduce eye, neck and back strain associated with prolonged inspection tasks.
"Malaysia has firmly established itself as a sophisticated global manufacturing hub, particularly within the semiconductor and medical device sectors," said Ganesh Ramakrishnan, South East Asia Regional Director at Vision Engineering. "Components are shrinking and tolerances are tightening. EVO Cam AURA gives quality teams the imaging clarity and integrated digital workflow they need to protect yields while meeting standards such as ISO 13485 and IATF 16949."
Integrated Inspection and Digital Workflow
EVO Cam AURA features an integrated software interface that combines zoom, focus, illumination, image capture, calibrated measurement and analysis functions. This allows operators to manage inspection activities through a single on-screen platform.
Additional features include Supervisor Mode, which enables manufacturers to standardise inspection settings across multiple systems or production sites. Go/no-go overlays and reference-image comparison functions support more consistent inspection decisions and simplify quality documentation.
The platform is available in three configurations: 4K Touch, 4K and HD. Each can operate independently without requiring a separate computer, offering flexibility for different production and laboratory environments.
For manufacturers with strict data security requirements, Vision Engineering also offers configurations that restrict wireless connectivity, Bluetooth and removable storage. Meanwhile, Wi-Fi and LAN connectivity options enable live image streaming and remote inspection oversight.
With these capabilities, EVO Cam AURA supports the increasing adoption of digital quality assurance and connected inspection processes in Malaysia's manufacturing sector, particularly as companies invest in automation, traceability and Industry 4.0 technologies.
