International packaging specialist ALPLA and Spanish company Inden Pharma have established a joint venture to develop and produce high-quality pharmaceutical packaging.

ALPLA Group, a global leader in plastic packaging and recycling, has entered into a joint venture with Spanish packaging company Inden Pharma, aimed at strengthening its footprint in the pharmaceutical market. The partnership involves the certified production of bottles, containers, and closures in clean rooms and will commence in March 2023. The venture will utilize two ALPLApharma production sites in Greece and Poland, along with Inden Pharma's two Spanish plants in Ibi and a jointly built fifth plant in Germany scheduled to begin production in June.

ALPLApharma and Inden Pharma plan to produce around 800 million pharmaceutical packaging products in the first year of operation. Their catalogue will include over 150 articles, with standard products from Inden Pharma being integrated into the joint catalogue. The joint venture aims to achieve leadership in the pharmaceutical plastic packaging market within the next five years.

Juan Guillem González, owner and CEO of Inden Pharma, believes that international customers will benefit from a wider variety of plants, proximity, high flexibility, as well as the service and quality in deliveries. He said, "It is quite a challenge, not only for Inden Pharma but for the entire organisation of the joint venture." The joint venture aims to expand its business to other places outside of Europe, such as India, the USA, or Central and South America, in the future.

Walter Knes, Managing Director of ALPLApharma, emphasized the importance of technology and know-how transfer, saying, "We bring together our strengths and distribution networks, use the most modern injection and extrusion blow moulding techniques, and can rely on our long-standing recycling expertise for future developments."

This partnership between ALPLA Group and Inden Pharma highlights their commitment to providing high-quality, cost-effective, and sustainable packaging solutions in the pharmaceutical market. Their collaboration will bring together global presence, high standards, and technology leadership, allowing them to expand their packaging solutions and better serve their customers.
