Indonesia's leading trade exhibition delivering high-efficiency solutions, machinery and production services for the plastics, printing and packaging industries will take place from 31 August to 3 September, at JI Expo, Jakarta. This edition, the first full in-person format since 2018, will see an encouraging international showcase of exhibitors from 15 countries, presenting in-trend plastic, packaging and printing technologies and solutions to meet Indonesia’s growing market demands.

Jointly organized by Messe Düsseldorf Asia and local partner, PT Wahana Kemalaniaga Makmur (WAKENI), the 3-in-1 exhibition is targeted at manufacturers, distributors and numerous sectors across the plastics, packaging, and printing value chain. End-user application sectors such as food, household, lifestyle goods, electronics manufacturing, automotive production and other fast-growth sectors will also benefit from the exhibition, particularly corporate buyers facing increasing complex customisation demands; from product packaging and branding, flexible product usability to green and sustainability outcomes.

Mr Gernot Ringling, Managing Director, Messe Düsseldorf Asia, highlighted: “INDOPLAS, INDOPACK and INDOPRINT’s return to a physical exhibition is highly anticipated by the international community as Indonesia is an important market for our exhibitors focused on expanding their business footprint in Indonesia, and who have long-standing partnerships with local companies.”

“As international travel continues to ease around the world and businesses jumpstart back into action, this edition comes at an opportune time where both suppliers and customers are re-energising their business operations to bring products to market faster, more efficiently and with value-add services to customers,” he added.

‘Making Indonesia 4.0’

The exhibitions will be held against the backdrop of Indonesia’s ongoing efforts on the  ‘Making Indonesia 4.0’ industrial revolution roadmap to invigorate the manufacturing sector, where the country is on its way to reach their vision to be the world's top 10 economies by 20301.

The development of the manufacturing sector in Indonesia is at the center of this goal. Currently, manufacturing accounts for close to 20% of Indonesia’s GDP, and employs 15% of its workforce. Indonesia also aims to enhance export opportunities and become more globally competitive by focusing on five essential sectors: food and beverage, textiles and clothing, automotive, electronic, and chemical. Last year, the Ministry of Industry included two additional sectors under the 4.0 roadmap, namely pharmaceuticals and medical devices.

International representation across sectors

The internationality of INDOPLAS, INDOPACK and INDOPRINT has been a signature hallmark since its inception, alongside a quality and targeted visitor base across the three synergistic sectors. Coming from around the world, including Germany, Netherlands, and India, to regional neighbors Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam - leading brandnames in their field continue to set their sights on Indonesia; from Epson, Heidelberg, Reifanhäuser to Windmöller & Hölscher, among others.

Growing local presence

Having established strong standing as a dynamic sourcing and innovation platform, local representation at INDOPLAS, INDOPACK and INDOPRINT also continues to grow with homegrown manufacturers and local distributors such as PT Namico Mitra Utama, PT Yong Chao Machinery, PT Tunas Mitra Sukses, PT. Saueressig Engraving Indonesia, PT Samafitro, and PT. Perdana Jatiputra, showcasing the best in class solutions. Commenting on the local business community and their resilience these past couple of years, Mrs Rini Sumardi, Director, WAKENI, said: “Local businesses have been working hard to meet domestic demand during the lockdown periods and continue to reinvent themselves - we are confident the business community is looking forward to a live in-person marketplace to network and conduct business to broaden their connections and potential customer base.”

“Also, during the recovery period, businesses here have grown closer to support each other in delivering a more diversified supply chain from printing packaging to plastics packaging and ensuring machinery supply and technology solutions remain accessible to businesses that are attending to end-customers directly,” she said.
