The 2028 edition was unveiled through market insights, new projects and strategic alliances on May 8 at Messe Düsseldorf

Today, at Messe Düsseldorf, IPACK-IMA officially presented the 2028 edition of the international exhibition dedicated to packaging, processing and innovative materials, scheduled to take place at Fiera Milano from May 29 to June 1, 2028. The press conference focused on a data-driven market outlook, the latest developments in the exhibition project, and the strategic partnerships shaping the architecture of the next edition.

“IPACK-IMA 2028 is a system in constant evolution, built on the belief that innovation is an art — expressed through the ability to listen to markets, anticipate transformation, and deliver technical excellence in response,” said Valerio Soli. “The platform we have built reflects our industries’ ability to combine creativity, technology and vision, while enabling the exhibition itself to interpret market demand and provide the answers businesses need, always with a future-oriented mindset: global company, local roots.”

The ecosystem: IPACK-IMA as a central hub

At the core of the project stands a structured ecosystem radiating from Milan toward global markets through complementary and highly specialized events. Alongside IPACK-IMA, Pharmintech by Ipack Ima, organized in partnership with BolognaFiere, provides a dedicated platform for the pharma and life science industries. Bevertech — developed in partnership with Italian Wine Union (UIV) and SIMEI — will make its debut from November 17–20, 2026 as a new exhibition dedicated to Liquid Food & Beverage, representing the first strategic milestone on the road to 2028. From an international perspective, the global ProPak network, developed together with Informa Markets, ensures market presence across Southeast Asia, India, Africa and South America. Complementing this established international exhibition network are IPACK-IMA’s Business Communities, through which the exhibition structures its offering according to the same vertical market logic, focusing on the most dynamic sectors in packaging and processing: Grain Based Food, Liquid Food & Beverage, Food Fresh & Convenience, and Pharma & Life Science.

“The many early rebookings for the next IPACK-IMA edition — with a +22% increase compared with the same period of the previous cycle — are far more than reservations: they represent strategic confidence in a system capable of generating real value in an increasingly volatile global scenario,” said Simone Castelli. “Visitors are at the center of every design choice we make. Our goal is to ensure that every professional choosing Milan finds the answers, connections and tools needed to build a sustainable competitive advantage.”

What’s new for 2028

Looking ahead to 2028, IPACK-IMA is introducing its new Technical and Scientific Committee, the exhibition’s first structured governance body dedicated to content development. Bringing together experts and key stakeholders, the committee will define the future direction of the exhibition experience. Smart Factory continues to grow, featuring complete operating production lines and daily live demonstrations, while IPACK-Mat expands its focus on next-generation materials. Meanwhile, Smart Talks will move beyond traditional conference rooms into the exhibition halls, making knowledge accessible wherever business happens. This vision extends well beyond the exhibition dates through the Road to IPACK-IMA 2028 - a structured program of events, industry insights and direct market engagement across strategic international markets.

Partnerships and international reach

The 2028 edition is built on a partnership architecture spanning every dimension of the project: UCIMA and Fiera Milano as institutional and operational foundations; Informa Markets and the ProPak network to strengthen presence in high-growth international markets; BolognaFiere for Pharmintech; and Italian Wine Union (UIV) together with SIMEI for Bevertech.

Completing the exhibition offering, IPACK-IMA 2028 confirms its collaboration with Deutsche Messe and will once again run alongside INTRALOGISTICA ITALIA, creating an integrated and complementary exhibition ecosystem in dialogue with the broader industrial supply chain.

A system of alliances that positions IPACK-IMA as a global reference point, capable of connecting technology demand and supply on an international scale. The goal is clear: bringing the world to Milan in 2028 — an event where technologies, markets and professional relationships converge to shape the future of packaging, processing and innovative materials.
