Alimentaria brings together more than 200 specialized companies and strengthens its position as a reference point for Spain’s organic sector; new content, key sector alliances and an extensive professional program make the show a hub for innovation and business for the sector

This year,  Alimentaria is preparing an edition with strong strategic relevance for the organic sector. From March 23 to 26, Fira de Barcelona's Gran Via venue will bring together stakeholders in foodservice, catering and equipment, in an edition where Organic Foods strengthens its position as one of the spaces with the greatest dynamism and international reach, with the participation of more than 200 specialized companies.

In pavilion 5 of the Gran Via venue, 1,450 m² will be dedicated entirely to the organic sector, with more than 200 brands and a pavilion of Spanish producers supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. Firms such as Biocop, Eurosoy, Gourmet Eco Foods, Hortec, Jijona and Natruly will present a wide portfolio that includes breads, cereals, chocolates, creams, certified agricultural products and snacks.

International participation will include the Jinju Bio Industry Foundation (Korea) and the Ecuadorian Federation of Exporters, alongside Italian companies such as Vivi Così, Molino Rivetti and Good in Food, and French firms including Aromatech and Nossa Fruits. Exhibitors will showcase products ranging from breads and pasta to açaí, flours and flavorings.

Organic Foods’ growth is underpinned by collaboration agreements with strategic entities such as Ecovalia, one of the most influential organizations in the promotion of organic production in Spain; Asobio, which brings together the main national companies that manufacture and market organic products; and FIAB, the main representative of the Spanish food and beverage industry.

For Anna Canal, director of Alimentaria, "the momentum of organic food is unquestionable, and Organic Foods has become a strategic driving force within the fair. We want this edition to promote new alliances and enhance the international visibility of companies in the sector''.

Professional program

A new feature this year is the La Plaza Eco project, a space for conferences, debates and networking where strategic connections between producers, distributors, experts and market agents will be promoted. The Plaza Eco will host, among others, the premiere presentation of Ecovalia's 2026 Annual Report, which provides a comprehensive picture of the market through main data on organic production and consumption in Spain. It will also present the INTERECO 2025 Data Report, which brings together certification authorities from 16 autonomous communities and offers a global and complementary vision of the Spanish ecological system. The program will also include a roundtable on organic retail in the international market, which will bring together representatives from Poland and the United Arab Emirates to analyze distribution models, consumer behavior and expansion strategies in markets where organic products are particularly dynamic. The session will enable participants to share experiences, identify opportunities and understand how demand evolves in different international contexts of high strategic value for organic companies.

Organic Foods 2026 will also incorporate the Eco Route, which will set up a selective tour of all those Alimentaria + Hostelco exhibitors that have organic products in their catalogue, providing professionals with a structured vision of new launches, trends and key opportunities in this sector.

The international momentum will be completed with Alimentaria + Hostelco's hosted buyers program, which will bring relevant players in the organic market from Poland, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria, Italy and the Middle East. Nearly 600 international buyers have already expressed their interest in this type of product, consolidating Organic Foods as a strategic space to expand commercial connections and accelerate the development of the sector.

The organic food market in Spain maintains a steady growth, cementing its position as one of the fastest-growing segments in mainstream retail. According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) and Ecovalia, the market already exceeds 3,000 million euros. In fact, the presence of organic products in Spanish homes is now practically widespread. Nearly 70% of households buy some organic food throughout the year, with an average frequency of eight purchases per family, according to Nielsen data, which places the average annual expenditure per inhabitant at around 66 euros.

Connecting the industry and hospitality of the future

Alimentaria+Hostelco, organized by Alimentaria Exhibitions, a Fira de Barcelona company, expects to have the participation of around 3,300 exhibiting companies, which will occupy 100,000m2 net and 7 pavilions, practically the entire Gran Via venue of Fira de Barcelona. The event, which celebrates its 50th anniversary, expects to receive more than 110,000 professional visitors, 25% of them international, reaffirming its leadership as the main platform for business, international growth and networking.
