The collaboration with Mykulynetsky Brovar demonstrates how a personalized approach and modern technologies help transform complex production tasks into effective engineering solutions.

In recent years, the brewing industry has been increasingly switching to PET packaging. Although glass and cans continue to occupy a significant share of the alcoholic beverage market, global trends clearly show that PET bottles are becoming an increasingly attractive alternative — economical, flexible in production, and more environmentally friendly. And the global beer market itself is growing steadily, packaging optimization even more important for manufacturers.

Let's take a look at the latest data explaining why the use of PET in the beer industry is becoming increasingly profitable:

o According to Fortune Business Insights, the global PET packaging market is showing steady growth and is expected to grow by approximately 5.76% between 2024 and 2032.

o PET is also gaining momentum in the beer segment: Mordor Intelligence analysts predict that the use of PET as a beer packaging material will grow at a CAGR of approximately 5.81% until 2030. making

o At the same time, the beer market itself is expanding. According to Mordor Intelligence estimates, its global volume will increase from $804.7 billion in 2025 to nearly $999 billion in 2030.

For over 26 years, manufacturers in the beer and beverage industry have been working with PET Technologies to implement customized solutions for PET bottle blowing. Each project is tailored to the customer's individual production needs: from bottle design and mold manufacturing to equipment production and technical support. This approach allows manufacturers to obtain containers that fully meet their technical and marketing requirements and quickly bring new product formats to market.

The fruitful cooperation between Mykulynetsky Brovar and PET Technologies, which has lasted for over 10 years, is a vivid testimony to this. As part of a new project, the beer and beverage manufacturer approached us with the need to create a customized solution that included:

  • designing a PET bottle
  • manufacturing a high-performance APF-Max 8 blow molding machine
  • designing and manufacturing molds

The history of one of Ukraine's oldest breweries began in the picturesque village of Mykulyn on the banks of the Seret River. According to contemporary sources, it was founded in 1457. It was in that year, when Polish King Olbracht and German Duke Tieran stopped during their campaign, that they tasted the local beer and approved of its taste — this event is now considered the starting point of the company's activity.

Today, "Mykulynetsky Brovar" LLC combines centuries-old tradition with modern production technologies. One of the unique advantages of Mikulinetsky Brewery is the use of its own malt and water from local sources. The water undergoes natural filtration through layers of blue and red clay, which gives the drinks their characteristic mild taste. It is thanks to this combination that the brewery has earned a reputation as a producer of live, unpasteurized beer with a clean and natural profile.

The company's slogan, “A taste proven by time,” accurately conveys the essence of the brand: from historical references to modern production. The company does not just produce beer — it continues to develop, modernize its equipment, expand its product range (including non-alcoholic beverages and water), and enter new markets.

The customer first approached PET Technologies in 2014, which marked the beginning of a partnership that has lasted for over 11 years. At that time, the company installed a third-generation APF-6004 automatic machine with a capacity of 6,000 bottles per hour. The equipment has been operating steadily for more than a decade, receiving technical support and molds for new formats, which is an indicator of stable cooperation.

Convinced of the reliability and effectiveness of PET Technologies solutions, the manufacturer approached us with a new large-scale project and ambitious technical specifications.

The variety of products offered by Mykulynetsky Brovar is a whole world of flavors and colors that consumers have long loved. From the rich amber Amber Ale and the deep, caramel-flavored Ukrainian beer to the delicate light beer with a slight hop bitterness, each variety has its own character and history. Added to this are refreshing non-alcoholic beverages: bright lemonades, classic kvass, and mineral water with a mild natural taste.

A source of special pride is Ukrainian single malt whiskey — strong, noble, with warm oak notes that distinguish it from other local spirits.

Such diversity creates both broad opportunities and significant production challenges for PET bottles. Each flavor requires a separate bottle, neck, preform color, and separate sets of molds to emphasize the uniqueness of the product. Frequent format changes, replacement of blow molds, and line reconfiguration take up valuable time and reduce overall productivity. During peak periods, when the product range is running at full capacity, any delay significantly affects the speed of product delivery to the market.

It was with this problem—optimizing time-consuming processes and creating a unified bottle design that would work for beer with its golden hues, colorful drinks, and crystal-clear water—that Mykulynetsky Brovar turned to PET Technologies. After a detailed analysis of production needs, we proposed a solution that reduced the number of formats and setup time while maintaining the recognizability of each product. As a result, the product range remains as diverse and vibrant as ever, but production is now much more efficient.

Optimization and unification: a solution that delivers real results

At the manufacturer's request and thanks to PET Technologies R&D work, an innovative solution was created: a unified design for 1-liter and 1.5-liter bottles that work equally well for beer, soft drinks, and still water. The simple yet functional design meets all customer requirements and ensures consistent results for three very different liquids.

Depending on the product, bottles are blown from preforms in three colors: brown, blue, and clear. Thanks to the NIR heating system on the APF-Max 8, the preforms are heated deeply and evenly, ensuring stable material distribution throughout the bottle geometry.

One set of blow molds is suitable for preforms weighing from 29.5 g to 30.5 g, which gives the manufacturer high flexibility and uniformity across the entire range.

This solution has made it possible to standardize production, reduce the cost of additional mold sets, and minimize downtime during mold changes.

All this is implemented on the APF-Max 8 blow molding machine. The line's productivity is 12,000 bottles per hour, which has effectively doubled the performance compared to the APF-6004 model. Using only two sets of blow molds, the manufacturer already saves a significant amount of time thanks to their quick replacement. In the APF-Max series machines, this operation is simplified by a special trolley for quick removal and installation of mold sets, as well as a convenient cabinet in which the molds are stored directly next to the working area.
