Technology offers opportunities to upgrade food production and processing

The food industry in 2026 is entering a new era of efficiency and sustainability. Despite global conflicts, technology offers opportunities to upgrade food production and processing, according to Informa Markets, organizer of ProPak Asia 2026. Deputy Event Director Ms. Kotchasorn Tocharoentanapol said geopolitical tensions and trade wars create both challenges and opportunities. ASEAN, particularly Thailand, is recognized as a neutral “Global Food Safety Zone” and a major exporter, well‑placed to expand food and beverage exports.

Manufacturers must raise production standards and innovate to meet global safety requirements. Those without modern technologies or environmental management plans risk exclusion from global supply chains. SMEs can now access AI, IoT, and affordable automation to boost efficiency.
