Metal cutting leader Sandvik Coromant held a Technology Day with customers at Bangsaen Heritage Hotel, Chonburi, Thailand, to help customers to discover more about its latest tooling solutions. The event attracted 50 customers from the automotive, die and mold, general engineering and aerospace industries, including representatives from CATERPILLAR CRTT, Micheline Siam and Senior Aerospace (Thailand).

The Technology Day began with an introduction to the company’s new brand identity, manufacturing wellness, which was launched in September 2023. The new identity consists of eight essential 'habits' designed to steer the industry towards a resilient future, which highlights Sandvik Coromant's unwavering dedication to innovation and sustainable advancement.

Following on from this, Sandvik Coromant introduced its latest tooling releases and upgrades, such as CoroDrill® 860 -SD, optimised for drilling in nickel-based HRSA materials, the upgraded parting and grooving concept, CoroCut® 2, for improved stability and flexibility. Additionally, presentations covered GC4405 — the latest grade in its new generation steel turning series and CoroMill® MR80, designed for challenging roughing operations in a wide range of face and profile milling applications in steel and stainless steel.

Finally, customers witnessed live product demonstrations of CoroCut® 2 and CoroMill® MR80, which were streamed from its training center in Pune, India.

“Engaging directly with our customers is the most effective way to equip them with sufficient knowledge and skills that will enhance their processes,” said Sunya Ratsamee, regional sales manager for Thailand at Sandvik Coromant.

“As we develop new technology and continuously upgrade our service offer, we need to ensure that our customers are also up-to-date. In doing so, we give our customers the opportunity to learn and improve their processes and stay ahead of their own competition,” continued Sunya Ratsamee.

“In such a competitive environment, learning new skills through the technology days will enable our customers to enhance their own performance, reduce costs, increase efficiency and ultimately, boost their potential. We look forward to hosting even more events of this nature throughout 2024.”
