Syensqo launches microplastic-free opacifier for liquid detergent

Syensqo enhances its portfolio of sustainable, biodegradable solutions for home care with the launch of Miracare^® Biopacify, a unique microplastic-free alternative to current styrene acrylate based opacifiers. 

This new solution comes in response to growing environmental concerns over the persistent presence of microplastics in ecosystems. Miracare^® Biopacify provides strong and stable opacity in liquid laundry detergents, unit doses and other home care products, improving the sensorial benefits while being compliant with upcoming microplastic-free detergent regulations.

Miracare^® Biopacify is readily biodegradable, on top of being a certified natural solution with RCI^[1] over 90%, ticking all the boxes as the next generation of home care additives that combine sustainability and performance. It enables strong and stable opacification of laundry systems, including when used alongside solvents such as in laundry pouches.

Building on over 40 years of innovation in home care solutions, Syensqo has recently inaugurated a new state-of-the-art microbiology laboratory in Lyon. This major asset in the development of sustainable, naturally derived and biodegradable ingredients, such as Miracare^® Biopacify, will bolster Syensqo's ability to address consumer demand for eco-friendly and high-performance alternatives.
