With “Go Green! Sustainable Future!” as its theme, the 2025 ASEAN Personal Care Technology Summit hosted by Ringier Events will showcase packaging-focused presentations.

In beauty and personal care, packaging is a declaration of brand values and consumer priorities, where aesthetics, functionality and performance have to be balanced. Asia Pacific, widely recognized as a global hub for packaging innovation, continues to lead in format evolution and material trends. Countries like China and Indonesia are recognized for distinctive packaging design1

According to 6Wresearch2, Indonesia’s personal care packaging market spanning skincare, haircare, bath, and fragrance applications, is expected to grow from USD 1.05 billion in 2026 to USD 1.25 billion by 2030, even under conservative modeling. The report highlights the popularity of formats like bottles, tubes, and pouches, which reflects the need for convenience and sustainability in beauty packaging.

In materials, plastic dominates as PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is favored for clarity, durability, and recyclability, while PP (polypropylene) resistant to moisture and chemicals, is mostly used for caps, jars and closures. Many suppliers are now integrating recyclable and refillable designs. Some have introduced extruded cosmetic tubes with offset printing and hot stamping, offering premium finishes for skincare and cosmetic applications. Flexible formats such as pouches and laminated tubes are gaining traction.

Targeting eco-conscious consumers, some brands use sustainable paper-based formats as well as FSC-certified or recycled paper cartons as low-impact alternatives to plastic. Hybrid packaging combines cartons with inner plastic or glass containers.

These developments reflect demand for portability and sustainability. After all, busy lifestyles demand packaging that’s easy to use, store, refill, or dispose. Squeezable tubes for moisturizers and cleansers, pump bottles for shampoos and lotions, and sachets for trial sizes and travel kits are formats that support fast routines and mobile living.

In general, packaging must also communicate halal compliance through QR codes or certification stamps. It must also reflect broader ethical values, such as cruelty-free sourcing and fair trade.

As Indonesia’s beauty and personal care sector heads towards a projected valuation of over USD 10 billion by 20273, the market continues to pursue innovation aligned with these values. In response to these market developments, 2025 ASEAN Personal Care Technology Summit aims to capture the on-going transformation in the beauty and personal care sector. Its theme “Go Green! Sustainable Future!” will spotlight packaging innovations tailored to Indonesia’s – and Southeast Asia’s – evolving beauty landscape.

At this conference, Guangzhou Sanrong Material Packaging Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou Sungoing Plastic Co., Ltd. will be presenting their latest packaging designs and solutions. A veteran cosmetic tube and cap manufacturer with over two decades of experience, Sanrong Material Packaging serves prestigious global beauty brands such as Revlon, Victoria’s Secret, and Shiseido.
