The panel discussion represented by Informa Markets, the Program Management Unit for Competitiveness (PMUC), the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), Nutrition SC, and Kaneka Corporation, delivered a focused set of recommendations covering market positioning, ingredient research, regulatory harmonization, standards, and commercialization pathways.

Vitafoods Asia 2025 will be hold during September 17–19, 2025 organized by Informa Markets and hosted at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (QSNCC) Bangkok, Thailand. It will once again be a key meeting point for the Asia–Pacific nutraceutical industry. Serving as a strategic platform, the event brings together the entire supply chain — from ingredient discovery and manufacturing to finished products, packaging, and regulatory expertise — creating opportunities to accelerate industry competitiveness and innovation.

The Asia–Pacific nutraceutical and food supplement market is experiencing sustained expansion. According to Market Minds Advisory, the sector, valued at USD 91.5 billion in 2024, is projected to reach USD 176 billion by 2034, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8%. Thailand’s nutraceutical and food supplement industry is on a parallel trajectory, with revenue of 133.6 billion baht in 2024 expected to grow to 179.9 billion baht by 2030 — a CAGR of 5.1% from 2025 to 2030, according to Grand View Research. This growth is underpinned by rising health awareness, a shift toward preventive healthcare, and increasing demand for products targeting non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and heart disease.

A primary driver of industry expansion is the rise in health consciousness among consumers. Increasingly, individuals are seeking products that support immunity, weight management, and overall well-being. Government agencies and health organizations are reinforcing this trend by promoting balanced diets through targeted public campaigns. This has contributed to the growing popularity of healthy beverages, such as protein shakes and probiotic drinks, particularly among younger demographics.

Within the food supplement sector, manufacturers are adopting advanced technologies to address specific health objectives, including anti-aging, digestive health, and weight control. There is also an intensifying emphasis on natural and organic ingredients, with turmeric, green tea, and a variety of herbs gaining prominence as core components in new formulations.

In parallel, the expansion of digital distribution channels — including online platforms and e-commerce — has significantly improved consumer access. Personalized recommendations from health experts, combined with targeted promotions, are now readily available, enhancing customer engagement and loyalty. These developments have also lowered entry barriers for new market participants, fostering greater competition and innovation across the industry.

Against this backdrop, Vitafoods Asia 2025 is positioned not just as a trade exhibition but as a knowledge and business development hub. The event will feature over 650 leading brands and expects more than 13,000 visitors from 38 countries, making it a focal point for industry stakeholders seeking to connect, source innovations, and expand into new markets.

Market outlook and strategic opportunities

Informa Markets organized the panel discussion on July 29, 2025 defined practical strategic priorities for scaling credible, research-backed products of nutraceutical market across the Asia-Pacific region. The panel discussion featuring five senior speakers — representing Informa Markets, the Program Management Unit for Competitiveness (PMUC), the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), Nutrition SC, and Kaneka Corporation — delivered a focused set of recommendations covering market positioning, ingredient research, regulatory harmonization, standards, and commercialization pathways.

Rungphech Chitanuwat, Regional Portfolio Director – ASEAN at Informa Markets, opened the panel discussion by noting the scale and momentum of the Asia–Pacific nutraceutical sector. She emphasized that the current market growth reflects a structural shift toward preventive healthcare and wellness, a trend gaining particular importance as populations confront lifestyle-related health challenges.

Rungphech explained that Vitafoods Asia offers an environment where Thai businesses can benchmark their capabilities against global leaders and directly connect with buyers, suppliers, and innovation partners. This year’s event will showcase a New Ingredients & New Products Zone, spotlighting breakthrough food supplements, functional ingredients, and health solutions from around the world. “The constant growth in the Asia–Pacific’s food supplement and nutraceutical markets clearly reflects a transition toward preventive healthcare,” she said, adding that businesses that align with this trend can position themselves for sustained growth.

Her perspective underscored that participation in Vitafoods Asia is not only about visibility but also about converting global interest into concrete business outcomes, whether through OEM/ODM partnerships, distribution agreements, or collaborative R&D initiatives.

Research and positive lists to build competitiveness

Prof. (Research) Dr. Chutima Eamchotchawalit, President of the Program Management Unit for Competitiveness (PMUC) and the National Innovation Agency (Public Organization), focused on the importance of research-driven product development and regulatory alignment to strengthen Thailand’s competitiveness in the global nutraceutical market.

She detailed PMUC’s role in promoting high-value, sustainable products through the development of a positive list of functional ingredients, natural extracts, and herbs. This list, aligned with international standards, will support the substantiation of health claims, improve product quality, and enhance global market credibility. By ensuring that health benefit claims are backed by scientific evidence and meet global benchmarks, it can elevate both the value and trust in Thai products.

Prof. Chutima emphasized that building a strong value chain — from upstream research to downstream commercialization — is essential. This involves bridging academic research with commercial applications, ensuring that promising local ingredients are developed into standardized, market-ready products that meet stringent quality and safety requirements.

Raising standards through industry collaboration

Nakah Thawichawatt, Chairman of the Food Supplement Industry Group under the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), affirmed that Thailand’s health and food supplement sector is undergoing expansion growth, fueled by rising consumer health awareness. He highlighted that Thailand’s food supplement sector is benefiting from wide variety products and active support from multiple stakeholders, including government agencies, research organizations, and trade associations.

Nakah described Vitafoods Asia as a mechanism for driving industry standards and enhancing competitiveness through exposure to international best practices and opportunities for collaboration. The FTI’s vision centers on “supporting the development of the food supplement industry to enhance its quality, standards, and consumer confidence.” He stressed that sustained growth will depend on the industry’s ability to consistently deliver safe, high-quality products that comply with global standards and meet evolving consumer expectations.

Commercialization and brand growth

Dr. Pat Ekpanyaskun, Chief Executive Officer of Nutrition SC Public Company Limited, discussed the commercial opportunities that events like Vitafoods Asia create. For brands, the event serves as a direct access point to target customers in both domestic and international markets, offering a powerful platform to build credibility, expand networks, and generate sales.

She noted that the show’s concentration of industry players across the supply chain — from ingredient suppliers to contract manufacturers — facilitates rapid business development. This supports Nutrition SC’s broader goal of becoming a market leader by leveraging innovation, strategic partnerships, and value creation across the entire health and nutrition sector.

Dr. Pat emphasized that success in this environment requires clear market positioning, evidence-based claims, and readiness to meet the demands of both retail and distribution partners.

Ingredient Innovation and Healthy Ageing Trends

Jeannie Kwa, Senior HCP Marketing Manager, APAC, Kaneka Corporation, focused on the expanding market segment dedicated to healthy ageing and longevity. She observed that consumers are increasingly proactive about maintaining their health over the long term, which is driving demand for products supported by strong research and proven efficacy.

She highlighted specific ingredients attracting attention, including NAD+, senolytics, antioxidants, Vitamin D, magnesium, Omega-3, and collagen. These ingredients are being incorporated into products designed to support cellular health, cognitive function, and overall vitality. Jeannie emphasized that research and development are critical to delivering targeted, science-backed solutions that align with both consumer expectations and regulatory requirements.

Knowledge exchange and industry advancement

In addition to its exhibition zones, Vitafoods Asia 2025 will offer over 50 expert-led seminars covering topics such as personalized nutrition, microbiome science, trends in healthy ageing, and regulatory updates for food supplement registration. These sessions will provide attendees with insights into emerging market opportunities and evolving compliance frameworks.

For new entrepreneurs, brand owners, and distributors, the event represents a gateway to global markets, offering opportunities to meet suppliers, discover innovative solutions, and learn from peers and experts. By bringing together all segments of the nutraceutical value chain in one venue, Vitafoods Asia supports collaboration, accelerates innovation, and strengthens the Asia–Pacific industry’s ability to compete internationally.
