ABERCROMBIE & Fitch (NYSE: ANF) and Inter Parfums Inc. (NASDAQ GS: IPAR) have recently signed a seven-year exclusive worldwide fragrance license agreement.
The deal will allow Inter Parfums to create, produce, and distribute new perfumes and fragrance-related products. These will cover men’s and women’s scents planned for both Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister for 2016.
Inter Parfums will also handle the internal distribution of the fragrances via specialty retailers, high-end department stores, and duty free shops. In the U.S., the distribution will be through duty free shops and potentially Abercrombie and Hollister retail stores.
Inter Parfums chairman and CEO Jean Madar said the company hopes to build a fragrance enterprise with the global distribution network and capitalize on the popularity of the brands in international markets.
“We greatly respect what the Abercrombie & Fitch organization has thus far accomplished in the realm of fragrance, most notably with Fierce, the brand’s well-established top selling scent. We look forward to developing new scents that capture the essence and energy of both the Abercrombie and Hollister brands, and to taking the portfolio to a larger global audience,” Mr. Madar added.
Partnering with Inter Parfums will allow Abercrombie & Fitch to leverage its fragrance portfolio into a much larger global opportunity, said CEO Jonathan Ramsden.
“We chose to partner with Inter Parfums because of its successful track record of cultivating and growing fragrance lines for fashion and luxury goods brands. We are confident that Inter Parfums will convey our brand message through scent and, with its global distribution network, make fragrance an even more meaningful contributor to our business,” Mr. Ramsden said.
Financo LLC represented Inter Parfums in the transaction.
