THE Africa Global Business Forum held on May 1-2 formally opened discussions on how Africa can accelerate its development in collaboration with the UAE. Attended by over 4,500 delegates from the government and business sectors, the meeting addressed the current state of Africa and the issues and challenges that set back growth in particular countries. Whilst its potentials are in agribusiness, logistics, trade, and financial services, “bottlenecks to Africa’s progress include the lack of infrastructure and underdevelopment of human resources,” said Rt. Hon. Amama Mbabazi, prime minister of Uganda. He added that Africa could learn from the UAE, specifically by using Dubai as a model. H.E. Al Mansouri concurred, saying that the UAE can help Africa through transfer of knowledge and skills. An overwhelming success, the Forum will now be held annually. (Photo courtesy of Dubai Chamber)
