Olam International, a global agribusiness has been supporting HIV/AIDs and other health-related initiatives in Africa for the past six years as part of the UN's 2016 goal of Getting to Zero. It has pledged $93,000 for activities on World AIDS Day on December 1, 2013 and $147,000 for longer-term programmes, according to a report posted on its website. Its investment will be able to help about 163,000 people in its company-managed plantations in eight countries – Zambia, Mozambique, Tanzania, C?te d’Ivoire, Republic of Congo, Ghana, Gabon and Cameroon. It works with GIZ (Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH) and EngenderHealth.
Olam has sourcing and processing operations in 25 African countries, and works with three million smallholders, including cocoa, coffee, cashew, cotton and sesame farmers.
