A NEW joint venture between Ajinomoto Co. and Toyo Suisan Kaisha, Ltd will establish instant noodle businesses in Nigeria and India. The JV agreement signed on 31 March 2014, will allow both parties to apply for incorporation in both countries. In the contract, Toyo Suisan, a producer of ramen noodles in Japan and owner of the brand Maruchan, will support product development/production, and Ajinomoto will handle marketing (product planning/sales).
The company in Abuja, Nigeria will be named Maruchan Ajinomoto Nigeria Limited and its shareholders will be Ajinomoto Co., Inc. owning 50%, West African Seasoning Co. Ltd. 1%, and Toyo Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. 49%. The capital investment is 3.2 billion naira (approximately JPY 2.0 billion).
The company in Chennai, India will be named Maruchan Ajinomoto India Private Limited. Toyo Suisan Kaisha, Ltd’s share is 51%, whilst Ajinomoto Co., Inc.’s is 49%.
