Al Islami represents UAE halal market in Taiwan

COUNTRIES that will succeed in the international halal market will be those who pay attention to the details of quality, standards and marketing, Al Islami Foods CEO Alex Andarakis told participants at the 'Exploring the Muslim Food Market Forum 2009' held at the sidelines of Kaohsiung Food Show 2009 in Taiwan. Taiwan, the UAE, Turkey and Southeast Asian producers are vying for the over $2.1-trillion and growing halal food market in 185 countries, he said in sharing his insights on the halal food industry. Show organiser TAITRA (the Taiwan External Trade Development Council) said Mr Andarakis was selected as a special guest speaker owing to Al Islami's "leading position in regional halal food market". The Council is playing a leading role in Asia in developing the halal market and supporting Taiwan as a new player looking to invest in this fast growing market. The reason is clear: there are over 1.8 billion Muslims in the world, or a quarter of the world population.
