Allmicroalgae continues work of Allma

PORTUGAL-BASED Allmicroalgae is the new supplier of Allma Chlorella in Europe and South America. According to Sofia Hoffman De Mendonça, Business Development Manager at Allmicroalgae, the company could supply the Asian market as well, “depending on the opportunities”.

“Allmicroalgae is basically continuing the work of Allma, improving it at all levels -production, product development, and so on. The core team basically remains the same with some new elements adding value, especially in regards the R&D side and the production technology,” she said.

Moving forward, the company will refurbish its Algafarm plant in Leiria, 100km north of Lisbonin, into a modern production facility to increase capacity and quality for Chlorella ingredients being sold under the Allma brand. The site will include other production technologies including fermentation.

Allmicroalgae will also expand product range to include other forms of microalgae besides Chlorella, including Nannochloropsis.

These new installations will operate alongside Allmicroalgae’s existing sun-grown Chlorella facilities.

New technologies and applications are becoming available all the time, and to maintain our competitiveness it’s important that we stay on top of the latest developments,” Ms Hoffman De Mendonça said. “Our priority is to produce and sell the highest quality microalgae available anywhere in the world – in formats that our customers can use in a wide range of food and beverage applications that consumers will love.”

Allmicroalgae is 100%-owned by Secil, one of Portugal’s largest cement companies. “Secil’s vision is to build a sustainable microalgae business that will be successful over the long term.
