BANGKOK, Thailand – The International Poultry Council (IPC) has welcomed its newest member, Alltech, a global animal health and nutrition expert headquartered in Kentucky, the United States. It is amongst the world’s top 10 animal health providers, with markets across Europe,the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Its business is to provide natural scientific solutions for the agriculture and food industries.
“Alltech is honoured to join the International Poultry Council. This group is made up of companies, government groups, and leaders throughout the poultry industry trying to find consensus on important issues related to trade, disease, and standards at a global level. By operating in 128 countries, Alltech can help provide local understanding as well as a global view to this discussion,” said Dr Mark Pearse Lyons, vice president, Corporate Affairs.
The International Poultry Council (IPC), formed in October 2005, represents poultry associations worldwide, and its goal is to address issues of trade and science. The Council aims to strengthen communication between the industries of different countries, to develop and recommend policies affecting our industries, and to promote a common global understanding of and confidence in poultry products as the preferred source of meat protein. Founding members include Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Egypt, the EU, Mexico, Thailand, Turkey, and the U.S.
“There are numerous challenges in the food chain around the world and only by working together as a global industry will we be able to find solutions to these issues,” said Dr Lyons. “With over 33 years of experience in providing innovative, natural solutions, we look forward to being a member of this elite group of industry leaders and continuing our investment and focus in the poultry industry.”
