Plastics & Rubber
The committee will evaluate all stages of composite production process to help increase profitability.

Evaluate all stages of the production process, identify the key factors that influence the costs and then develop tools that increase profitability. This is the profile of the newly created Competitiveness Committee, an initiative of the Latin American Composite Materials Association (ALMACO).

Coordinated by Paulo Camatta, executive manager of ALMACO, the Competitiveness Committee will have a multidisciplinary character, involving both experts in composites and consultants in the areas of tax, law and government programs.

"We will work as broadly as possible to achieve the reduction of costs for the companies associated with ALMACO", says Camatta.

He points out that the Committee is associated with the Program Investing in Brazil, created by the entity last year. Among other goals, the program seeks tax equality with competing materials, the revision of tax rates and the increased access to credit facilities.

The Brazilian composites sector reported a US$ 1.492 billion revenue in 2012, which corresponds to a 4.6% increase in comparison with the previous year.

During the period, however, the volume of raw materials consumed fell 0.6%, totaling 206,000 tons. For 2013, revenues are expected to total US$ 1.612 billion, that is, an increase of 8.1% for an estimated consumption of 211,000 tons (+2.4%).
