Plastica Industries LLC has been steadily increasing its market share and portfolio of services. A subsidiary of Kavi International Group of Companies, Plastica Industries is reckoned as a reputed manufacturer and supplier, offering a gamut of plastic products. During an interview with International Plastics News - Middle East (IRNE), Mr. Kavi Chotrani, Managing Director, shared his thoughts on the company's progress and opportunities ahead. IRNE: What are the products and services that Plastica Industries LLC currently offers? Chotrani: Plastics Industries LLC is engaged in blown film and injection moulding products. We produce oxy-biodegradable carrier bags for boutiques, hypermarkets and renowned brands. General purpose bags, garbage bags, poly-bags, rolls, sheets, covers and sleeves are also part of our product portfolio. Plastica Industries also specialises in the production of high-quality garment hangers and PVC boxes, transparent or opaque, printed or unprinted, according to the client's specifications. We have a dedicated in-house printing unit, fully equipped with state-of-the-art printing machines. We offer customised plastic solutions to our clients. Whether it is printing the company's logo or customising the plastic bags according to a particular product, we offer a complete packaging solution for the customer's convenience. IRNE: How widespread is the company's network in terms of suppliers and customers? Chotrani: We offer services to a diverse customer base spread across the Gulf region. Majority of our manufactured products are sold to clients across the region, while the remaining is exported to Europe. We procure our raw materials from the Gulf region as well, with special focus on suppliers in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Oman. We believe in procuring excellent quality machinery from established industry experts. Most of our machinery came from our Far-Eastern suppliers. As manufacturers, we strongly believe in the need to maintain strong communication channels with the end-users to better understand their requirements and product specifications, hence we prefer to directly deal with clients rather than hold intermediaries or agents.

"Inherent focus on quality orientation, value added services, customisation of products and good turnaround times has kept us in business." -Mr. Kavi Chotrani, Managing Director, Plastica Industries LLC IRNE: What makes the company highly competitive despite the many challenges in the market today? Chotrani: Plastica Industries is a medium-sized company with diversified operations and products. Inherent focus on quality orientation, value-added services, customisation of products and good turnaround times has kept us in business. These values are core principles at Plastica Industries and we abide by them to maintain our customer portfolio and more importantly, our credibility. As a company, we witnessed price volatility in raw materials. In the past, we saw a 70% increase in the prices of raw materials which led to considerable adjustments in our final product prices. We absorbed as much as we could, but due to certain limitations, we had to pass some of the costs to customers. With the reduction in raw material costs, we have been able to align product prices accordingly. But to remain competitive, we had to offer supplementary services and value-added propositions to our customers. IRNE: What are your contributions to the present attention on environment protection? Chotrani: We manufacture oxy-biodegradable plastic products which are environment friendly and non-hazardous. As a company, we have an organised waste management plan. We operate a recycling plant where all refuse from injection moulding products is recycled. The residual plastic refuse is sold to waste management companies to ensure proper disposal
