Anti-pollution: A new category in Asia

FUELLED by concerns regarding air pollution, the anti-pollution claim in beauty products has shown rapid growth. This is especially true in China, where many product launches have focused on reducing the effect of pollution on the skin. According to Mintel research, pollution is ranked the third highest concern by Chinese consumers aged 20-40, following behind their health or their families' health and food safety.

Here we take a look at some of the latest anti-pollution products in Asia market.

Anti-pollution cleansing cream: Clarins Extra-Comfort by Clarins (Japan) 

This cream has been relaunched to feature a new product name and new reduced packaging. The comforting cleansing care is suitable for skin weakened by a polluted urban environment, and features a formula with moringa extract for its anti-pollution benefits; mild surfactants to get rid of makeup and impurities; mango butter to protect skin from dehydration, nourish it and provide suppleness and comfort; jojoba oil and shea butter for their antioxidant and moisturizing benefits; and the oligosaccharide BioEcolia to restore the skin's biological balance and maintain its youthfulness.

Facial mist: Dust CUT by Etude House

The mist is designed to protect the skin from harmful environmental aggression by forming a protective outer barrier. It provides care with plant extracts to clarify dull and exhausted skin. Also available in this range are the variants, Finish Cream, Micro Foam Cleanser and Mask Sheet.

Perfect pore cleansing oil: Laneige Cleansing by Amorepacific

The Laneige Cleansing range is formulated with green tea extracts from carefully grown green tea leaves, which contains ample antioxidants to protect the skin that is prone to damage by harmful materials, leaving it pure and clear; and hyacinth extracts to purify and protect the skin from heavy metals, smog, chemicals and other harmful materials, and relieve its stress for long-lasting brightness and energy. Part of the range is the Perfect Pore Cleansing Oil, a deep cleansing non-comedogenic oil formulated with activating elements in mugwort extract, to enhance the defense ability of the skin; natural virgin coconut oil, to wipe off waterproof or heavy makeup; and oil with substances similar to sebum, to cleanse skin by reducing sebum and blackheads.
