Asia Pacific Breweries Limited (APB) has announced the top three winners of their ‘How to Have a Good Night Out’ regional responsible-drinking campaign.
This initiative engages members of the public in the Asia-Pacific region on the issue of alcohol responsibility via six animated tongue-in-cheek and funny ‘lessons’ on responsible drinking. It runs on a micro-site where members of the public can view, choose and personalise their favourite animated ‘lesson’ by uploading their own photos and customising conversations on responsible drinking before sharing it with friends and loved ones via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest or email invites.
Over the ten-week campaign period (18 March to 29 May 2013), the ‘Lessons’ videos were viewed more than 1.1 million times across the Asia Pacific on both the campaign website and the popular social media platforms, such as YouTube and Facebook. The campaign also attracted more than double the public participation last year, and in the online video contest and quiz over 7,600 entries were received from young people between 18 and 30 years old. The videos were then shared more than 1.9 million times by contest participants and web visitors alike during the same period, and the campaign’s Facebook community grew twice as large this year with more than 16,000 new fans that ‘liked’ and talked to APB about their drinking habits and preferences.
Viet Nam boasts the highest level of participation, with 3,205 submissions, as well as the grand prize winner, 28-year-old Trinh Thi Anh Loan, who garnered the most video views for her personalised video. The coveted grand prize was a three-day and two-night exclusive package for two to a Heineken Sensation Party in an Asia-Pacific country.
“The series of ‘Have a Good Night Out’ lessons is entertaining and practical. Pacing your drinks with water is my personal favourite tip that I’d want my friends to follow,” says winner Ms Trinh.
