API China: Skin health in focus

SOUTH Korea’s SungWun pharmacopia Inc. (SWP) focused on skin care and health food applications at the 3-day API China in Suzhou, a well-known industrial and technology center that is a two-hour drive from Shanghai.

SWP manufactures active pharmaceutical, intermediates and ingredients for cosmetic and food products at two facilities in China’s Zhejiang province. The latter are primarily fermentation products, such as hyaluronic acid and lauroyl lysine.

“We manufacture these ingredients in our plants in Qu Zhou and Taizhou,” said SWP president Chung In-Hwa. Next year, as the company marks its 7^th year, SWP expects to open another facility in South Korea, he also said.

The APIs are registered in Korea (KDMF) and most of the fermentation products are USP-grade and are now exported to the U.S. for different applications.

At API China, SWP hoped to meet with local skin care and cosmetic manufacturers for both co-marketing and co-branded efforts.

“We hope to have cooperation with prospective customers like Weina, China’s third largest cosmetic company,” Mr In-Hwa said.

The 2014 spring edition of API China, organised by Reed Sinopharm Exhibitions, will be held in Chengdu, China, from May 21-23.
