With recent developments in manufacturing pointing towards environment protection, injection moulding machine makers have followed suit by introducing models that promise low energy consumption. These “green machines” have become more than a strategic marketing edge as all plastic injection machine producing countries have begun setting standards and inspection norms for the energy consumption of machines being used.
According to Stanley Wang, Engineer at Precision Machinery Research & Development Center of Taiwan, the centre studies and analyses plastic injection machine producing countries’ regulations and compares them with the present conditions in Taiwan. “We would like to suggest to the government and/or industry to take the standards as important guidelines for the energy consumption of machines,” according to Mr. Wang.
The major power saving devices for plastic injection moulding machines include: the hydraulic system and the hybrid energy system together with related application techniques for electro-magnetic induction heating on the plastic injection moulding machine’s barrel. The device and technology helps industries to run machines with lower cost and higher profit.
PMC’s major task at the moment is to conduct the technical research project for energy saving functions. This includes mould clamping force detection, balancing flow control for multi-cavity injection and an intelligent monitoring structure for the forming system.
