Arburg highlights medical technology at Chinaplas

Source:Arburg GmbH Release Date:2013-05-20 189
Medical Equipment
The automation solution presented at Chinaplas, comprising an electric Allrounder E and a Multilift Select robotic system, enables cost-effective entry into precise, energy-efficient moulded part production using electric machine technology and automated parts handling

MEDICAL technology is one of the sectors experiencing a boom in China and throughout Asia, prompting injection moulding machine company Arburg to display an entry level electric model that meets clean-room standards at the four-day Chinaplas 2013, which opened today in Guangzhou.

High-quality production calls for special machines that can perform reliably, precisely, to a high quality standard and with low emissions – making them suitable for clean-room applications. These requirements are met by the latest electric Allrounder Edrive series, which also scores points among processors with its very good price/performance ratio, Arburg said.

Arburg is demonstrating the efficient production of medical technology products at the Chinaplas with a production cell built around an electric Allrounder 370 E with Multilift Select robotic system

This electric Edrive series comprises a total of four machine sizes, which can each be equipped with injection units of various sizes. This means that the machines can be adapted to the various injection moulding tasks on a modular basis. The spectrum ranges from the Allrounder 370 E with a clamping force of 600 kN and size 170 injection unit to the Allrounder 570 E with a clamping force of 2,000 kN and size 800 injection unit.

A type 370 E machine with a clamping force of 600 kN and size 170 injection unit is running the Edrive series at Chinaplas, the leading plastics and rubber industry event in China. The single-cavity mould on view features one sprue runner and three slides, as well as mould cavity pressure measurement that ensures optimum part geometry and demoulding and therefore constant high-quality production.

A housing will be produced that can be used in a fluid mixing system. The dimensions of the 33-gram moulded part are 130 x 100 x 11 millimetres, and the cycle time is 17 seconds.

Fixed configuration, flexible robotic system

At the Arburg booth (Hall 5.1, A41), trade visitors can observe the finished parts being  removed by a Multilift Select robotic system. This vertically operating robotic system is ideal for complex part removal and destacking processes.
