OVER the years, ASEAN has risen to become a remarkable player in the international manufacturing arena, backed by business-friendly climates, inflow of foreign investments, healthy supply-chains and an advantageous geographical location.
During the opening ceremony, Ms Lindy Wee, Chief Executive, Singapore Exhibition Services said, “In keeping abreast with current industry trends and technological innovations, MTA enables manufacturing companies from machine tool makers, to distributors, contract manufacturers and OEMs to access the latest precision engineering and machine tool technologies available in the global market all under one roof.”
She added, “We see new areas and opportunities for MTA to do more to assist, grow and build up an even stronger networking, sourcing and knowledge-gathering platform to support Asia in its journey to become a world-class hub for advanced manufacturing.”
Wee said that MTA also sets a conductive stage for knowledge sharing and exchange not only an international marketplace for Asia’s manufacturing players.
She mentioned that a digital revolution is occurring in manufacturing now. To address this phenomenon, we have specially created the first Future Factories and Manufacturing” Conference held alongside the exhibition. From there, delegates can gain a deeper understanding on the impact of Industrie 4.0, and the integration of IoT and automation into manufacturing processes.
Asia is well-placed to grow as an advanced manufacturing hub. MTA, which is dedicated to support the region in its progression on the manufacturing value chain, provides a spring board for global players seeking to tap opportunities in the region and for Asian companies looking to expand beyond domestic markets.
