Manufacturing Expo 2010, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations'(ASEAN) largest international industrial equipment and technologies trade exhibition successfully completed its 23rd edition. Even in the wake of its host country's lingering political problems, the event has surpassed expectations and alleviated concerns about Thailand's viability as a strong market. With record attendance of 35,823 of both local and overseas trade buyers from 30 different countries including Asia, Europe, North America, Africa and the Middle East, the general consensus is that Manufacturing Expo 2010 remains ASEAN's no. 1 exposition for manufacturing and processing technology. Held over four days from 24-27 June at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC), around 1,300 of the world's leading brands as represented by 25 different countries were featured. Interplas 2010 alone showed off the products of 325 exhibitors from 16 countries. Another major feature is the increase in the number of major exhibitions from 4 last year to 7 this year as this year marked the entry of "Industrial Energy and Environment Asia 2010" which focuses on energy conservation and global warming issues, as well as new technologies for industrial applications, the "Industrial Component and Subcontracting 2010" presenting opportunities for subcontractors to extend networks globally, and "Furnitech Asia 2010" which showcased furniture-making machinery and technologies.

This year, 150 seminar topics attracted over 800 delegates who learned what are needed to keep them viable. Topics included energy and environment, composites technology, plastics innovation, furniture production, automotive parts for exports, moulding technology, among others.
Wider technology options for plastics & rubber processing InterPlas 2010 remains Thailand's premier event and biggest annual exhibition for the rubber and plastics sector. This edition sealed this reputation as it served as host to a new breed of plastic and rubber technologies, with several different zones for machinery, technology, OEM and packaging. The international pavilions were represented by Japan, Korea, India, China and Taiwan. Highlights included the "Plastics and Rubber Forum," the "Composites Showcase 2010," daily "Plastics Clinics" which were supported by the Petroleum and Petrochemical College and Chulalongkorn University, as well as "Technology Presentations" provided by industry leaders such as Matsui (Asia) and Pongana. Another concurrent event, InterMold 2010, offered the latest products and services for the mould and die manufacturing industry. This year saw increased international participation with representatives from Japan, Taiwan and Europe. Visitors had the opportunity to meet local mould makers at the "Mold Makers Pavilion" and witness firsthand the skill and proficiency of Thai craftsmen at "The 2nd Thailand Mold Polishing Contest."
