Ausplas expands with additional two major shows
This year, AUSPLAS breaks from tradition as it will be taking place earlier in the year. Another first for Australia's most popular show for the plastics industry is the holding of two other major trade exhibitions to bring greater synergies for those engaged in the industrial sector.
AUSPLAS will be held alongside National Manufacturing Week and Austech at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre from 24-27 May 2011. The three shows will occupy the entire 30,000 sqm centre. The range of plastics processing and ancillary equipment being exhibited in operation this year is double the number and variety of the showings in 2008. The presence of these two other major shows under one roof will provide exhibitors and buyers with plenty of opportunities to transact as well as obtain much-needed information on a huge range of equipment, products, services and technologies from all over the world.
Even while many companies stood back in 2008 due to the global financial crisis, quite a number of them are turning this year to join a host of Australian suppliers and agents, as well as new exhibitors from China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Europe.
This year features the widest range of injection moulding machines seen since Ausplas since 2002. Added to these is the presence of a broad variety of extrusion and blow moulding, thermoforming, CNC routers and CAD systems. There is also good representation by local suppliers of specialty chemicals, additives, pigments and especially by masterbatch suppliers.
Visitors are expected to witness the latest range of ancillary equipment such as blenders, chillers, materials handling systems, silos, granulators, heating elements, screws, barrels, spares, hoppers, mixers, heating and hot runner systems, controls and monitoring. Recycling and regeneration, energy efficiencies, printing, prototyping, testing and measuring equipment will also be on exhibit.
2011 brings a large increase in exhibitors involved in the supply of equipment and know-how for the fabrication sector. Plastic sheet, rod and profiles of all sizes and properties, ultrasonic welding and hot air tools, butt welding for sheet and pipe and related new technologies for build and repair. Also new applications and semi finished products.
As a side event, the SPE: A-NZ will present technical information sessions on May 26 that will include a morning session on Masterclass on "Energy Management in Plastics Processing" and an afternoon session entitled "There is no Conflict: Sustainability - How to Make Money and still be Green," both presented by eminent technical expert, Dr Robin Kent.
Based on historical audited data, total attendance across the three events is expected to reach 14,000 individual visitors. To continue the strength of the relationship current plans are to co-locate Ausplas with these two trade shows again in Sydney at the Sydney Showground in Homebush in mid 2014.
