VASTERAS, Sweden – Avure Technologies, the global leader in high pressure technology, has been awarded a contract to build a Hot Isostatic Press (HIP) by OJSC Kompozit, Russia, a manufacturer for the aviation industry.
The HIP system will be delivered with two furnace solutions, in graphite and molybdenum, to support the needs of OJSC Kompozit. The system will be designed, tested and installed by Avure’s operating unit in V?ster?s, Sweden, and reflects the continued surge in demand for the company's high pressure solutions.
Designated as a “mega-HIP” because of its large size, the press for OJSC Kompozit will feature a work zone of 800 mm (31.5 inches) in diameter and 1500 mm (59 inches) in height. The maximum operating pressure is 2070 bar and the maximum temperature is 2000 degrees C (about 3800 degrees F). The HIP system will be equipped with Avure Technologies’ patented rapid cooling technology that enables increased productivity with optimal temperature control. The mega-HIP is scheduled for installation in 2015 at OJSC Kompozit’s factory in Korolev, Moscow region, Russia.
“We are honoured to receive the contract award for this demanding HIP system,” said Anders Eklund, Ph.D., business unit director for Advanced Material Densification at Avure Technologies. “Our team is truly excited about the opportunity to assist OJSC Kompozit with the ability to HIP-treat its demanding products for jet engines utilized in the civil aircraft Industry.”
