AXSON has announced it will open an Axson Merylithe Technical Centre in Méry, Savoie, France to develop innovative PUR formulations.
The new, state-of-the-art technical center will focus on both isocyanate formulation and systems. It will enable the Group to develop “greener” applications and customers to carry out tests and trials beginning early 2015.
A world leader in high-performance polymer formulation, Axson is looking to leverage its expertise to create “greener” applications. Taking over Merylithe is a move in line with the group’s acquisition policy.
According to Axson Merylithe director Jérôme Duclos, the center will adopt a customized approach and serve as an incubator for innovative PUR solutions.
“Axson Merylithe is also working on more environmentally friendly PUR ranges and is currently researching alternatives to petrol and carbon products. Developing bio-sourced systems is a real challenge for the industry of tomorrow!” Mr. Duclos stated.
Efforts to expand Axson Merylithe complement the Group’s objective to offer customers every type of formulation solution, whether complex or functional, said Axson Technologies’ Sales and Marketing vice president Patrick Blosse. “Our expertise in formulations combined with Axson Merylithe’s great flexibility will enable us to push back boundaries and improve product performance,” he added.
Axson Group president Charles Churet sees the advantage of such approach in benefiting the entire group. “Axson Merylithe will enable our Axson Technologies Business Unit to develop certain niche markets and continue to provide high-performance applications in the elastomer market,” Mr. Churet said.
