Barry Callebaut expands Belgian chocolate capacity

As of 1 January 2017, the company will have full control of a chocolate facility formerly owned by Mondelēz International, and will continue to supply Mondelēz with liquid chocolate
Barry Callebaut AG, the world’s leading manufacturer of high-quality chocolate and cocoa products, has closed the acquisition of the chocolate production facility from Mondelēz International in Halle, Belgium, as announced on 15 September 2016. This follows the completion of works council consultations and closing conditions.
 
The factory in Halle, which will be integrated into Barry Callebaut’s global manufacturing network as of 1 January 2017, will expand the company’s production capacity for quality Belgian chocolate and fillings. The transaction also includes a long-term agreement for the supply of an additional 30,000 tonnes of liquid chocolate per year to Mondelēz International, which will start in early 2017.
