BASF this year has its theme, “Design x Innovation”, at Booth A21 in Hall 13.2 and Viewing Deck outside Hall 9.3 in Zone B. One highlight of the exhibit is the first pedal cycle that BASF is bringing to China for the first time. The 1865 concept bike, which was designed to rebuild the 19th century bike as a modern bike to answer that question makes use of advanced materials from BASF.
Jointly developed by DING3000 design studio and BASF’s designfabrik, the concept bike – which makes use of 24 different BASF materials – is a source of inspiration and innovation.
The collaboration demonstrates BASF's commitment to co-creation. Customers and designers are invited to collaborate with the company in developing new applications and product ideas utilizing advanced plastics.
Also on exhibit is the BMW i3 – with its body and frame completely made out of carbon-reinforced plastics. The model represents the most extensive use of carbon fiber in a mass-produced car in the history to date. It is also an example of how light weighting with high performance plastics not only helps to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, but also enables design freedom which leads to innovative solutions.
