HONG KONG – Bemis Company Inc., a global leader in flexible food packaging, will be hosting the first China Meat Packaging Forum at the China International Meat Industry Exhibition (CIMIE) taking place this October 2013 in Qingdao, China. The forum, hosted in partnership with Multivac packaging solutions and the China Meat Association, is free of charge for CIMIE attendees and takes place from 2:00 - 4:00pm on Sunday 13th October at the Technical Seminar Room in Hall 3 of the Qingdao International Convention Center.
With the theme of ‘Food Safety, Freshness and Packaging Trends’ and featuring speakers from the China Meat Association as well as technical experts from both Bemis and Multivac, the forum will provide an open dialogue with technical experts, manufacturers and other authorities in the industry to discuss the key factors impacting on the meat industry and how packaging can help to deliver better products in the meat chain, from farm to table.
Daniel Kearny, Head VP Market and Technology Development for Bemis Asia Pacific, said: “With the meat industry in China rapidly changing, we want to share valuable information on new innovations and technology that we’re seeing in other markets and how they can help businesses here and in the region. This is a great opportunity to partner with industry colleagues like Multivac, who share the same vision and commitment to China’s packaging industry as we do.”
The China Meat Packaging Forum will cover key industry trends, the impact packaging can make on improving freshness, how automation and technology can improve meat packaging and how the right packaging solutions can help improve and enhance products.
Julia Wu, Marketing manager and assistant GM of Multivac (China), said: “We are pleased to be working with Bemis on this new initiative to provide an informative dialogue with our partners and colleagues in the industry. It is a great opportunity for us to share valuable information on innovation and technology and how automating food packaging operations can enhance efficiency. We hope that this forum provides some insights that will help support the development of meat businesses in China.”

Bemis and partner company Multivac will also be working together at the Bemis booth at CIMIE, where the HFFS line R215 will be on site to demonstrate how both companies work together in using material science and automation to improve packaging solutions for the meat industry.
Commenting further, Mr Kearny said, “Our aim is to help bring fresher, safer foods to every supermarket in China and we hope that this forum will give businesses a sound understanding of what R&D capabilities can not only help them improve efficiency but improve consumers’ lives as well.”
The China meat industry continues to see significant growth in a variety of sectors. With total revenue estimated at CNY1.0319 trillion in 2012, and more businesses increasingly moving from small artisanal operations to large scale companies, innovation and packaging will play a larger part in helping businesses to succeed than ever before and the forum provides an opportunity to learn more about key packaging trends and technological developments affecting China’s ever changing meat industry.
