BENEO managing director addresses participants at the 28th Scientific Conference of the Nutrition Society of Malaysia held on May 29-30.

The Nutrition Society of Malaysia held its 28th Scientific Conference from May 29-30 in Kuala Lumpur. Attended by various participants with interest in developing and promoting better nutrition in Malaysia, the conference saw representatives from the Health ministry, the FAO, food companies and other organisations. At this event, Koen van Praet, managing director, BENEO Asia Pacific, had the opportunity to address the conference. The following is an excerpt from his speech, Better Nutrition from early on – a smart ingredient choice is key!:

“Covering more than 48 countries and over four billion people, Asia is one of the most diverse regions in the world. We believe that while “Better nutrition for all” is not an easy goal, it is a worthy one. Today, nutritional issues in Asia range from the growing incidence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) to malnutrition in others; from the burden and cost of dealing with aging population to making sure infants have the right nutrition they need delivered safely.

“We at BENEO believe that a healthier diet starts with the right ingredients. Most people don’t think about the huge impact that nutrition has on our health. It is never too early to start eating right – or to stop eating the wrong things. Choosing healthier food can have a significant economic and social impact, because better nutrition will lead to healthier families, healthier communities and a healthier future for Asia.”
