Borouge, a leading provider of innovative, value creating plastics solutions, reinforced its position as a supplier of choice of a wide range of polyolefin products for the plumbing and heating pipe systems for home and indoor solutions for the building and construction industry at the Big 5, an international building and construction show held in Dubai from 25-28 November 2013.
As one of the major tradeshows in building and construction, the Big 5 provided Borouge with an opportunity to demonstrate its latest offerings in PP-R, PP-RCT, PP-B, BorECO? and BorSafe? solutions, technologies and services that contribute to the improvement of clean water distribution and drainage system for the infrastructural sector.
Borouge is a member of the Emirates Green Building Council (EGBC) which was established in 2010 as an independent forum that helps shaping policies for the built environment and facilitating collaborative solutions to promote sustainable practices in the UAE.
Borouge offers a range of high quality PP-R, PP-RCT and PEX polypropylene and polyethylene materials for the manufacture of hot and cold water pipe systems. These corrosion resistant materials, which are rapidly replacing metal pipes in buildings throughout Europe and the Middle East, provide long maintenance free operation at high temperatures. Such demanding application requires materials to be produced up to the highest standards because any failure of a system in a large building or complex can result in high costs.
Borouge’s RA130E PP-R has been fully tested against the requirements of ISO 15874 by the Exova Laboratory in Sweden. In addition, the taste odour properties of the material are regularly checked by the independent German TZW laboratory and RA130E is registered in the UK Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) as being suitable for use with hot water (up to 70°C) and cold water.
Etihad Towers is one of the many high rise buildings in Abu Dhabi that installed hot and cold water supply systems manufactured from Borouge’s RA130E PP-R material. The prestigious property covers a total area of over half a million square metres, and the tallest of the five towers is over 300 metres height. Designing, producing and installing the hot and cold water systems for such a large development was challenging and demanded the highest quality of products and workmanship. The pipe systems were produced by World Plastics based in Jordan and supplied through Bani Marban International Trading of Abu Dhabi. The quantity of PP-R pipes required for the complex was staggering, totalling over 45,000 metres of pipes of all sizes including 5,500 metres of 160mm diameter pipe.
Borouge also supplies a new range of PP-RCT compounds from Borealis to cater to the higher performance requirements of ISO 15874 and enable thinner walled pipes to be used in many situations. This grade of PP pipes us is also recognised for its higherNike
