Blumberg Grain to set up hub in West Africa

THE US-based food security company, Blumberg Grain will build a manufacturing and export complex in West Africa for the large-scale production of food safety and security storage warehousing systems. Along with this, an agriculture and farming institute will be established in cooperation with Iowa State University, the Ghana Food and Agriculture Ministry, Ghanaian educational institutions and NGOs.

Through this project, Blumberg aims to provide African farmers access to best practices, techniques and technology, to increase output and reduce post-harvest losses. The hub will be built at Blumberg Grain’s sole expense, and is expected to create 1,000 new jobs, contribute to the country’s exports, and become a catalyst for large scale manufacturing in West Africa. The new complex is only one of several projects the company will be undertaking in Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Asia. It will be operational by 2014.
