Bobst Manchester to hold Open House

Source:Bobst Release Date:2013-07-18 444
Plastics & Rubber
The next generation BOBST General K5000 will be introduced at Bobst Manchester ‘s Open House on 15 October 2013

Customers who attend will witness a next generation K5000 machine aimed at achieving high barrier metallization – a new approach to defect elimination to achieve higher barrier films.

The Open House will consist of technical presentations and 2 live machine demonstrations.

The first demonstration will involve high OD aluminium metallization with real-time pinhole detection and reporting functionality (BOBST General Hawkeye). BOBST General Hawkeye is a monitoring system that at full metallizer speed, detects, counts and categorizes pinholes and other defects from 0.1 mm upwards. Hawkeye has a reporting option which generates reports as PDF files; the use of this option ensures that production is not interrupted.

The second demonstration will feature the clear barrier coating (AlOx) system at high speed as a real alternative to PVDC and EVOH.A standard aluminium metallizing machine is used as a foundation for the AlOx process which results in versatility as one machine can be used for two processes without compromise. The application is available for coating a wide range of films including PET, BOPP, CPP, PLA and other types of plastic films. The coated film can be used for end products including baked goods and microwaveable products.
