Bosch to purchase Osgood Industries

LEADING process and packaging technology supplier Bosch Packaging Technology has announced plans to acquire Osgood Industries Inc. to boost its position in the liquid food industry in North America and other markets. 

 

The agreement was signed last February 6. The transaction, which is subject to the necessary antitrust approvals, will involve a comprehensive service portfolio of maintenance, spare parts, customer engineering, rebuilds, and retrofits of existing equipment.

Oldsmar, Florida-based Osgood Industries, which achieved US$26 million in sales last year, already represents Bosch Packaging as a sales agent in North America for the latter’s portfolio of thermoforming, fill- and seal-technologies. Backed by its expertise in developing, manufacturing, and servicing complete rotary and linear machinery lines, Osgood Industries has established a solid position in the packaging industry.

 

Currently with about 150 associates, the company adopts standardized and customized applications for the accurate filling of preformed containers. Using clean or ultraclean hygienic standards, it handles the packaging of different food products, including ice cream, yogurt, dessert, salads, and cheeses. 

 

Bosch Packaging president Friedbert Klefenz said the acquisition will enable the company to add to its strategic activities in the area of liquid food.

The experience of the Osgood team, their dedication to customer satisfaction and their expertise in this growing segment make this a much-valued addition to the Bosch team,” Mr. Klefenz explained.

The planned acquistion fis in line with two major strategic acquisitions by Bosch: in 2013, Tecsor Machines et Systèmes S.A.S., the French maker and filler of PET containers for liquid and paste-like foodstuffs; and in 2012, Ampack in Königsbrunn, Germany, which specializes in  filling machinery for sensitive foods (dairy products, infant  food, and hospital foods) in cups and bottles.
