The bioactives market in Asia is brimming with opportunity, as concerns over health problems associated non-communicable diseases, rising obesity rates, and ageing populations, compel consumers to re-think the way they eat.
To address these topics, Vitafoods Asia will hold a technical workshop to unearth the factors fuelling rising demand for nutraceuticals in Asia, as well as, to present the latest scientific developments that can be leveraged to achieve success. Organised in association with Smart Short Courses, the Vitafoods Asia workshop brings together specialists from across the globe to help formulators and R&D professionals get to grips with translating science into products that appeal to consumers.
Areas with growth potential for manufacturers lie in gut, brain, heart and eye health. A series of sessions investigate the science behind ingredients such as omega-3s and probiotics to illuminate how their health benefits align with key consumer health concerns. Presentations on formulation criteria, microencapsulation and purification will acquaint attendees with technical skills required to create foods and beverages with marketable health benefits.
Dr Sefa Koseoglu, president at Bioactives World and Workshop organiser, said: “Asia has become the hub for the production of the majority of bioactive ingredients sold worldwide. This programme provides a forum for ingredient manufacturers from Asia and experts from North America, Europe and South East Asia to come together and discuss critical issues in the formulation and development of functional food products for local and export markets.”
Chris Lee, portfolio director, Vitafoods Asia added: “Gaining practical advice on formulation in the context of consumer behaviour is crucial to successful new product development. The Vitafoods Asia Workshop is an exciting addition for 2013 designed to offer expert advice on where opportunities lie, as well as technicaAir Jordan XXXI Low
