Fourteen companies showcase Brazil's exotic flavors in their chocolate and confectionery products

BRAZIL is famous for its samba, carnival, and of course football. But chocolate and confectionery are not far behind. The country’s major confectionery manufacturers are in ISM 2016 in Cologne, Germany to introduce the exotic flavors their country has to offer.

Through the Brasil Sweets and Snacks Project, celebrated between ABICAB (the Brazilian Association of Cacao, Chocolates, Candies and Byproducts Industry) and The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), companies including Berbau, Docile, Dori, Embaré, Garoto, Harald, Jazam, Montevérgine, Nugali, Peccin, Prodasa, Riclan, Simas and Vonpar, exhibit product lines that are already successful among Brazilian consumers, banking on differentiation such as the ‘Brazilianness’ of the products and the uniqueness of the raw materials used.

The toppings manufacturer Jazam, for example, will launch different packaging formats of their colored toppings line Coloreti, such as Coloreti Amore, Coloreti Festa Amore and Coloreti Star, for their appearance in the New Product Showcase, at a central point in the fair where the main product launches from various manufacturers and countries will be concentrated. It is an opportunity for the visitors to discover innovative, attractive and unique products

“With the expansion of the product line into the international market, we are able to reach a more diverse market, not only the wholesale distributors, but also the large networks of retailers from Europe and the United States, offering accessible prices and high quality”, comments Guilherme Souza, Exportation Analyst at Jazam, which will participate in ISM for the 12th time.

Chocolate and toppings manufacturers and exporters such as Harald and Simas, confirm that the ISM is also an excellent opportunity for prospecting new business, aligning projects with clients, gaining brand exposure, studying the competition and discovering the latest market trends.

“Simas will launch the ChocoMelo lollipop at ISM 2016, the first one with milk chocolate covering and milk caramel filling and their Sam´s Festa line, including stripy candies and lollipops of different colours and flavours and lastly  their coated candy line Pipper in coloured heart shapes, much used for parties. We have high expectations for the fair, mainly to give continuity to the projects for 2016 with existing clients”, comments Luiz Eduardo Simas, Owner of Simas.

To demonstrate the pureness of the chocolate with classic fruit filling, Nugali will exhibit the ‘Dragée Cacau em Flor Banana’, ‘Cacau em Flor 70%’ and ‘Cacau em Flor with Acai brittle’. Garoto promises to triumph through caramel creaminess, with the ‘Talento Doce de Leite’ chocolate. Vonpar will launch two new products: the ‘Neugebauer Minis Mix’, which has unique packaging with mini bars for specific flavours including milk chocolate, white chocolate, 40% cacao, milk chocolate with orange, milk chocolate with mint, and ‘Chocolate Swiss’, which is a premium product with a hazelnut cream, available in four displays per box.

Chocolate will also appear in the tube shaped wafer biscuit filling from Montevérgine, which will launch three products from the ‘Tub-in’ line: chocolate Tub-in covered in milk chocolate, hazelnut Tub-in covered in milk chocolate, and cacao Tub-in with a chocolate filling.

When it comes to fruit, lollipops, drops, caramels, chewing gums and candies reveal notes of acai, Brazilian banana, strawberry, tangerine, mango, pineapple and nuts among other fruits that stand out for their unique flavour and for their healthy properties. This is the case with companies including Peccin, which will exhibit chewy candy Açaí Brasil and Trento Dark a chocolate filled and covered wafer; Embaré, which will launch the Yogurt line of caramels in pineapple, banana, melon, mango and watermelon flavours; Dori with Gomets, their strawberry jelly rolls; Docile with the 1Kg packets for their line of gelatin candies; Riclan with ‘Freegells Gum’, which is a sugar free chewing gum, as well as their jelly candy ‘Go! Jelly’; and Berbau with their line of ‘Megalito lollipops’, which have a chewy filling in strawberry, tutti frutti, and cherry flavours, as well as the ‘Megalito Pinta Língua’ (‘Tongue Painter’), which will be a new release. Prodasa will present new packagings for their candy lines: Toffee Tradicional, Toffee Mix, Frutas Sortidas and Prodasa Premium. “The objective of these changes is to renew the appearance of our products through a more modern packaging, increasing the visibility of our candy line at the sells points, comments Marcelo Alcantara Fernandes, Director at Prodasa.

With 37,000 visitors at the 2015 edition, ISM featured more than 1500 exhibitors, among which, were important Brazilian companies from the sector that are increasingly engaged in adapting to the international market, without losing the essence of their nationality.
