DSM's Dyneema Force Multiplier Technology delivers products with combined  ballistic performance and light weight to meet requirements of modern defense industry.    

Personal and vehicle protection gets a new lift with DSM Dyneema's Force Multiplier Technology. DSM, the manufacturer of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMwPE) fiber, branded as Dyneema, and leading manufacturer of life protection materials and high performance fibers is presenting its latest developments in its Dyneema Force Multiplier Technology platform for personal and vehicle protection at Seoul ADEX 2015 (International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition) from 20-25 October 2015.

Dyneema Force Multiplier Technology is a breakthrough innovation that can deliver products with excellent ballistic performance while having the lightest weight compared to materials in the market today. The technology was developed in response to growing demands for materials that have uncompromising ballistic protection while possessing armor weight reduction features, requirements of soldier modernization and vehicle armoring programs worldwide.  

As defense spending rises across Asia, many countries are looking to upgrade to new technologies and that include South Korea which is also increasingly becoming a global defense export hub due to its modern defense industry.  

DSM Dyneema Force Multiplier Technology

In line with growing trends in soldier modernization programs globally, new generation personal armor can now be designed with Dyneema Force Multiplier Technology, minimizing the issue on   protection and lower weight. Products made with Dyneema Force Multiplier Technology are also excellent for developing soft and hard ballistic protection applications like vests, inserts and helmets for personal protection. Depending on the threat level, the technology can reduce the weight of body armor by up to 30% without sacrificing ballistic protection, while enhancing comfort and agility with fewer layers of material and increased flexibility. Used in helmets, Dyneema Force Multiplier Technology enables designs protecting against 9mm FMJ handgun ammunitions and fragments to weigh as light as about 1 kg.

Since its introduction, top armor manufacturers  around the world, including those in the Asia Pacific region, have been incorporating Dyneema Force Multiplier Technology into ballistic protection applications for defense programs like Generation II Soldier Plate Carrier System for the U.S. Army and for law enforcement agencies such as the FBI and the New York Police Department in the USA.
