Facility in Thailand produces cooked poultry products for customers in Asia, Europe and North America.

SARABURI, Thailand – Cargill will be upgrading its integrated poultry processing facility in Saraburi, Thailand. About $10 million (THB 300 million) is allocated for this facility, which produces a range of cooked poultry products for food service chains, convenience stores, food manufacturers, retailers and distributors across Asia, Europe and North America.

“This investment enhances Cargill’s ability to continue to provide our customers with the highest quality products and services,” said Prasit Maekwatana, president of Cargill Thailand. “Our customers work each day to meet the changing demands of consumers around the world, and this investment reflects our commitment to help them succeed.”

The upgrades will include the plant’s food safety system, installing more efficient equipment and expanding the facility’s cold storage capabilities, all of which are expected to be complete by July 2014.

Apart from this project, the company has completed a $110 million expansion of its other Thai poultry processing facility located in Korat. Both facilities have a combined annual production capacity of 80,000 metric tonnes. They are part of a fully integrated poultry supply chain that includes breeder facilities, hatcheries, feed mills, pullet and grow out farms, processing plants and a product development facility. Each step of the supply chain meets world-class bio-security and food safety standards, according to the company.

“As one of Thailand’s largest exporters of cooked poultry products, Cargill is proud to make products that are enjoyed by people all over the world,” said Mr Maekwatana. “We are equally proud to contribute to Thailand’s economic growth, and these upgrades are just the latest example of 45 years of Cargill’s investment in Thailand.”

Cargill has been operating in Thailand since 1968 and currently employs about 12,000 people across 10 locations. In addition to its poultry processing operations, the company sources, processes and markets a wide range of products including agricultural commodities, animal feed and food and beverage ingredients.
