Carl Zeiss Regional Director emphasizes on O-SELECT

One of the products Carl Zeiss promoted in Metalex Bangkok is the new, intelligent ZEISS O-SELECT digital measuring projector. Shaun Lim, Regional Director for Southeast Asia said the new model targets the entry level applications like 2D measurement. 

The highlight for O-SELECT Shaun added is the quick operation. In production environments, optical and contact coordinate measuring machines are increasingly replacing manual equipment such as goniometers, gauges and profile projectors. However, the influence of the operator with these manual tools must not be disregarded. With O-SELECT, ZEISS is reducing this influence to a minimum. Thanks to its high level of automation and ease of use, complex measurements can be completed quickly, traceably and reproducibly.

Besides requirements for better accuracy and fastest speed, Shaun sees a lot of companies focusing on productivity. He believes software will be a huge highpoint in the future.

“Everybody are now talking about Industry 4.0. How this is going to shift the future of manufacturing. For Carl Zeiss, we have already launched a software or what we call a PiWeb. It is a graphical reporting system which instantly translates quality or process data into valuable insights.”

He added, “This PiWeb interlinks not just CMM, and machinery but also linking whatever they have in the factory.”
