CeMAT ASIA 2013: The leading intralogistics trade fair in Asia

Figures like this serve to highlight the growing importance of CeMAT ASIA as Asia’s leading intralogistics tradeshow. This October, the show’s organizer, Deutsche Messe, is expecting more than 450 exhibitors and a leased display area of some 35,000 square meters (376,700 sq. ft).

CeMAT ASIA 2013 will be held from 29 to 31 October at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). The exhibitor list includes leading manufacturers, such as Crown, Daifuku, Dematic, Eisenmann, Jungheinrich, Sick, SSI Schaefer and viastore. “The strong showing by exhibitors from outside the Asia region is testimony to the great importance of CeMAT ASIA for the international intralogistics industry. The latest economic data indicates that China’s economy is back on an even keel and could grow by as much as 7.5 percent in 2013. China thus remains one of the most important markets for the international intralogistics industry,” says Deutsche Messe’s CeMAT Project Manager, Bernd Rohde.

According to information provided by the China Logistics Technology Association, 130 fully automated logistics warehouses were built in China last year. This trend is being driven by eCommerce, with strong growth in both the B2B and B2C segments.

In addition, many international manufacturers of intralogistics products operate their own production facilities in China. Among them is the Hamburg, Germany-based industrial truck maker Jungheinrich. Its new plant in Qingpu has a production capacity of over 10,000 units per year. At this year’s CeMAT ASIA, Jungheinrich will highlight its role in shaping the future of intralogistics in China. Alexander ?zbahadir, Managing Director of Jungheinrich Lift Truck (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., explains: “Our display stand will provide an overview of our entire product range – from pedestrian-controlled trucks to battery-powered counterbalanced and reach trucks right through to integrated solutions. Jungheinrich will continue to grow and strengthen its position in the Asian market over the long term. The great importance Jungheinrich attaches to the Asian market is also clear from the fact that in August this year, the company marked the 60th anniversary of its founding by opening a new production facility in Qingpu District, Shanghai. The facility produces advanced, energy-efficient lift trucks to European quality standards for the entire Asia region.”

Since its debut in 2000, CeMAT ASIA has gone from strength to strength. The fair is a key marketing platform for industrial trucks, cranes and hoisting equipment, conveyor systems, warehousing and storage systems, loading and unloading equipment, logistics software and materials handling accessories.

This year, the automated Guided Vehicles Pavilion will once again be a major visitor magnet. The use of AGVs is gaining ground in automated warehouses and is also becoming increasingly common at the container terminals of the world’s major shipping ports.

The CeMAT ASIA 2013 showcase will be complemented by a program of conferences featuring best-practice case studies from different parts of the logistics industry. The highlights will once again include the “International Conference on ICT Solutions and Products for Materials Handling and Logistics,” where international experts will discuss the development, potential and future prospects of intelligent IT solutions for the logistics industry.
