Just recently, the Cruelty Free International (CFI)’s North American manager Monica Engebretson spoke at a US congressional briefing on the Humane Cosmetics Act in conjunction with Representatives Martha McSally and Don Beyer, the Congressional Animal Protection Caucus, and others.
CFI reported that it has secured a clear Russian commitment that non-animal tests to prove safety will be accepted. The bipartisan Bill, if approved by Russia's Parliament, would phase out animal testing on cosmetics and materials by 2020.
CFI is steadfast to terminating the use of animals to test cosmetics and other consumer products throughout the world. It claims to have one million consumers backing its pledge for a worldwide bar on animal testing for cosmetics.
